ABOUT US

That really should be "about me" because Dalton's West is simply one woman who owns a Texas-centric business and who decided to get into leatherwork on the side.  I had taken a class in leatherwork in junior high and loved it and decided to try it again. 

It can be an expensive hobby what with all the tools and dyes and so forth, and it's a little scary when you're cutting the design or stamping it with a mallet.  Even the staining and dye, often done with fine little brushes can be intimidating because you don't want to mess something up that you've already worked on for hours.

But despite all that, it's fun and I almost always love the end product even with its "minor flaws and imperfections" as those tags say when describing hand-dyed or hand-woven garments.

About the company name - my daughter & I started an online business so she could stay home when she had her first child, Mercy.  We named it  "for Mercy's sake."   So when her second child came along and got old enough, he kept asking why my daughter answered the phone "for Mercy's sake."    I figured when I started selling my flasks, the least I could do was name it after Mercy's little brother.  Thus, Dalton's West.
