Hand-tooled leather covers a stainless steel 8 ounce flask to hold your water, wine, or tequila.  This design is my own creation and this time I applied a resist to the Texas shape and the leafy scrollwork that wraps around the sides.  I applied a tan dye to the top and bottom rows of stars and than a layer of stain across it all. After the stain sits a few minutes, I wipe it off, especially, on the Texas and scrollwork parts. The Hi-lite stain and subsequent rubbing off is what gives the piece its lived-in look that I love so much.

The leather is finished with 3 coats of a medium sheen, water-resistant finish, buffed to a nice glow.

But alcohol is a solvent and will spot the leather if you spill any when filling the flask.  Water will also spot it it unless blotted immediately, but alcohol will permanently affect the finish.

Always use a funnel to fill the flask.
