TEXAS FLAG FLASK

Hand-tooled leather covers a stainless steel 6 ounce flask to hold Tito's Vodka or Dripping Springs Vodka or any of the Texas wines.   I cut the outline of the Texas flag and then painted it with Cova paints for leather.  I stamped a barbed wire design around the middle.  

Then I applied a "resist" coat to the flag and—oops—didn't  stay within the bounds of the flag very well. I think the dog barked...or wait, I think I sneezed...or no, a car horn startled me.  Or maybe it was that second martini.  (Note to self: do not do exacting work after 2 martinis. In fact, don't do anything.   Better yet, don't have two martinis!)

Anyway, I didn't realize how much I'd gone past the flag until I applied the stain on top of the whole thing and saw where the stain didn't absorb on the right side and a few thin brush strokes below the flag.   So, long story short (too late!), this is what I would consider "seconds" which means you can have it for only $85 instead of $95 which is how much my next one will cost.

The leather is finished with multiple coats of semi-sheen finish to resist moisture.   However, alocohol is a solvent and will spot the leather if you spill any when filling the flask.   I recommend using a 4 ounce funnel to fill it.

This is a fabulous gift for a proud Texan who appreciates Texas-made products.
